Etherwave Pro Heating: Normal?

Unlike the E Standard, the Pro generates a lot of heat. I remember seeing a posting about a Pro smoking.

I'm just wondering if it's normal for the pro to produce enough heat to warm the front panel near the volume antenna.

This is noticed about a half hour after power up.

There does not appear to be any impact on tonal quality.

About the only smell I've noticed was the fresh finnish on the wood wafting out of the instrument.

Am I just being paranoid?

Yes, the Etherwave Pro does get warm.

Part of the reason may be that the power supply (transformer, rectifiers, etc.) are housed internally. That's why there is no "wall wart".

You will notice that some of the control knobs will get quite warm as well. That may be because they are connected to potentiometers (variable resistors) which are themselves creating heat which is conducted through the metal knobs.

Normally, this should not be a problem, as long as the ventilation holes are not obstructed.

However, if you see the mystical "blue smoke" escaping.....you have a BIG problem.
