Theremin cello

Many months back I saw a short video of Pamelia Kurstin playing the theremin cello, but I can't for the life of me remember where I saw the video, nor can I seem to find any video of any theremin cellos being played on the web.

Anyone know anything about videos of the theremin cello?

I extracted the video and have it as a quicktime movie. I really didn't like having to download proprietary software to view a video. Now it looks like they have a flash based system.

Any info on wheather that's a new, or vintage original theremin chello?

Floyd has a few more. If you buy one, let us all know. He only has a few left and I'm really really really really really thinking about getting one.

There are 2 originals that do not work, and 10 replicas.
2 are Floyds
1 went to Bob Moog
1 went to Albert Glinsky
1 went to the relative of the original cello owner (don't have notes with me right now)
1 was purchased by someone back east

Wow, Thanks for the links guys. I sure wouldn't mind getting one, but from the looks of the inner workings of the replicas, I'm pretty sure the cost would be in the upper hundreds, if not over the thousand dollar mark. I'm going to look into it, though.

Going price is $5500

Which is why I don't have one right now...

Oh well, Guess I'll have to learn how to build one. Might be interesting to apply the concept to a "theremin fiddle".

Thomas, I posted a thread titled "A Source for Ribbon Controllers" which lists a company that is selling somethign that might work for a fingerboard on such an instrument.

I don't think it would be too difficult to put a modern one together.

It would not be a spectacular as the replicas built by Floyd but it would do the job.

Thanks, I'll look into that. Might be cool to buy a 50 dollar junker of a violin, and cram the electronics into it, and put a ribbon on the fingerboard. Hey, this stuff's startin' to sound like it belons over in the construction section. If I take on such a project, that's where the progress will be posted.
