ebay sucks again

so i see a moog signature series etherwave for 99 cents of ebay...the seller claimed perfect playing condition and decent cosmetic condition so i bid 100 bucks just for shits and giggles only to find out that i hadnt met the reserve...i hate ebay

Ouch. Yeah... I tend not to bid on anything with a reserve price for precisely that reason - you have no idea what the seller wants.

In my opinion, if you want a certain amount, set the opening bid to that price and let the market dictate the rest.

Another tip is to watch out for shipping costs. I've seen lots of sales in the past for decent gear for $.99 (buy-it-now), but the shipping is something ridiculous like $100.

I have seen all of this kind of stuff happening and it can be irritating to say the least.

I still like Ebay because you can still get some
good prices.

I have gotten quite a few good deals on equipment on Ebay.

You just have to watch out for these little tricks.

Some of the sellers are jerks, but I blame eBay for the reserve auctions. It's just stupid: I'm supposed to bid but have no clue if the seller is going to accept my bid or not, but then my money is committed in case they do so I can't bid on anything else until they tell me what their decision is? No way! I don't bid on reserve auctions any more either.

Actually, you will know instantly whether the reserve has been met.

I like Ebay because I decide how much the item will cost me.

I just bid what I want to pay and then walk away.

i just hate bidding what i want to pay and then finding out there is a reserve...why start a bid at 99 cents if you wont accept that amount

I actually bought my first theremin off e-bay. It was clearly assembled in some guy's garage, but it worked and had both the pitch and volume antennae. After a year it broke though, and forced me to move up to Moog (a choice I was happy to make.) Does anyone know where to begin when fixing a theremin?
