Ether Music 2005 Conference - A Celebration of the Theremin

I hope all the players remember to get your entries for the theremin composition contest to the post office by 5:00pm today cos' it's the deadline. I did and I'm just so excited making me an official 100% theremin nerd! woo!

So who all am I going to see there? I'll have a booth set up and I'll be leading a panel discussion with Bob Moog, Lydia Kavina, and others.

I'd LOVE to see folks walking around the festival in Thereminworld t-shirts! Maybe we can arrange a group photo of Thereminworld readers for an upcoming picture of the month?

I hope to meet some new folks at the conference. I've had my Etherwave for a couple of years but I have practice-phobia, so it will be interesting to see if I can be inspired to actually learn how to play that thing.

Great question. I'll be filming everything I can, but I'm sure my camcorder's sound quality isn't all that great. At the Portland festival in '97, a TV documentarist was on hand to film the whole week. Reid Welch also had a DAT recorder with him and got some great interviews.

If there is any sort of Internet access, I'll be posting some short movies during the festival (as I get time to edit them in the evenings). But it'd be great to have some folks carrying audio equipment too. David, are you offering to play some of this stuff on Spellbound? :)

I've been planning on doing some filming with my Canon ZR-60 as a personal video project...been looking for something to help me learn Final Cut Pro. I haven't planned on recording full performances, however, only short bits. I'm not sure what restrictions there's going to be on recording at the event.

Too bad I loaned out my laptop, Jason, I'd help you get that video out on-line. For this event, I'll be - computerless!
