My Moog amp is picking up CB radio traffic right in the middle of a video shoot for an updated version of my theremin lesson.

Can anyone tell me if one of those coils you put around power, and audio cables will eliminate radio intererance?

I seem to recall reading an interview with Wendy Carlos, in which she said that she and her producer had essentially lined the walls of her studio with aluminum foil to block out radio-frequency interference.

I've never tried it myself, but if it's good enough for a studio in NYC, it ought to be good enough anywhere...

Ah, a faraday cage. I don't think my land lord would approve of wire mesh lined walls, though.

Thanks.

Hmm, screening room? Or, perhaps linning the inside of the amp with brass mesh, and or applying sheilding on the cables like what's inside aircraft com-gear cabling might be cheaper.

But there's still the house wiring. Oh well.

Aluminum foil keeps the aliens from hearing your thoughts as well...

I did play in a band once where the guitar players amp picked up a baseball game at a live gig.

That was pretty funny (unless you were on stage trying to get through a Rush song at the time...)

An evin worse situation comes from our church where the pulpit's audio system picked up a trucker's CB radio transmission. In this case, perfect timing was in play, and when the priest said "lord, give us a sign of your love", there came a booming, echoing voice saying "uh, 10-4 good buddy, I got a good copy on you!"

You can imagin the reaction from everyone. The priest couldn't stop laghing for 10 minutes.

Well, I may have solved my radio recieving amp problem, but time will tell. I walked over to the music store, and picked up a high quality guitar cable by Fender which has a cloth sleve, and better, thicker sheilding. so far, no more radio traffic.

The church thing is funny.

If there is a God, I like to think He would roll like that.
