In her book METHOD FOR THEREMIN, Clara Rockmore said in regard to theremin technique that we should think butterflies!
"Think of your fingers as delicate butterfly wings and you will get much further than if you use strength."

That is brilliant! - "strength" and "force" are completely irrelevant and "un-noticed" in terms of capacitance, so what Clara says makes perfect sense!
