A couple of bits....
Many years ago, my bride was diagnosed bipolar. As it turns out, that condition was brought on by the drugs she was taking to treat fibromyalgia. Adjusting her meds, diet, and exercise habits brought her back to the real world, more or less.
Of course, we are both a bit loopy by nature. We met at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting :)
Concerning person A and person B...
I work part time for a major retailer as a cashier. I interact with a huge variety of the human race and there are some things that tweak me quite a bit. The most recent was while operating the "10 items or less" isle.
Two women approached my register with an overflowing cart. I'm not allowed to turn them away, or even mention that they have way too many items. Both were well dressed. One was talking on her cell phone, while the younger one was texting. I tried to be friendly, which is a job requirement, and received a "who the hell are you to bother me" glare.
I figured they were upper middle class snobs (person A) that wanted nothing to do with a lowly cashier (person B) and continued in silence.
They payed with a government benefits card.
I could have bit a steel beam in two.
I work my butt off and hold down two jobs just so I can feed my family. I don't have a cell phone. I don't waste my money on fancy clothes, and MY TAXES are providing these things for jerks that act like I'm below them and don't give a rosy red rats rear end about everyone in line behind them who actually read the 10 item sign. They are too damn important for such things.
The rudeness of the rich without the money.
I'm gonna' go cry...
On the other side of the coin was a guy wearing distressed cut off jeans and a tee shirt who bought some store brand snacks. I recognized him, and we talked for a bit. He is a retired engineer.
Back in the C band satellite days, he developed and marketed equipment that produced enough loot for him to be comfortable for the rest of his life.
The contrast is striking.
