Or pack it really really well in a hard shell suitcase.
I had to do that with a couple instruments last Nov. and was really happy I didn't try to carry on when I saw how many folks who wnet on first carried on several bags, all the rest got "checked at the gate" without any way to protect them and the eventual shoving cramming overhead bin mob scene inside the plane.
We will never know the joy of travel again I'm afraid.
