Looks like no sleep from Monday thru Thursday for us NJ residents. Grocery stores were fairly busy yesterday, hardware stores fairly busy today. Got all the flashlight batteries charged and will fill all the H2O containers. Just hoping (in this order) that the house says dry (or at least doesn't flood too bad), we don't lose power (at least for too long), and that the sewer, water, and gas keep working.
Is it a perception issue associated with getting older, or is it basically true: that life boils down to one long uninterrupted stream of interruptions? And I don't even have kids! </crankyoldishman>

I think its true - perhaps we only realize this truth as we get older?

Yeh, be sure to keep all of your valuables anchored well down: seems like the hurricane could be as bad as Hurricane Donna in 1960.
Chobbs, you could get creative and do a theremin live sound event to accompany the roof ascent :-)

I feel very lucky as my neighborhood stayed high n dry through out the entire surge. Didnt even loose power or internet. A few miles in any direction- not so lucky. the more 'aftermath' news I hear- the worse it sounds. Most MTA (under river) tunnels completely flooded! Rockaway Beach (my favorite place!) was completely thrashed- 80+ home fire.
