"If the above is true (?) then I would add that a 60us beat period doesn't automatically mean anything in terms of the precision of the measurement of it. What is the frequency of the clock are they using to sample the period?" - Dewster
Yeah - I didnt want to get too technical on that post - but my thinking was also on those lines.
The "60us" is meaningless - they could almost have taken any clock and quoted its period.. I was, to be honest, completely disheartened (but not surprised) by the total failure to even acknowledge the latency issue.. No, not disheartened - DISGUSTED!
I am actually getting utterly pissed off by the groveling of our community to the great Moog corporation - IMO its time that we woke up to the fact that THEY ARE NOT MOOG ANYMORE! - The ones now running the show are the ones who probably prevented Bob from advancing the theremin, who held him back for bean-counting reasons.. Moog Inc is not a friend of the theremin community, and Moog Inc is lying to us!
What does Mike think we are? We have SEEN the latency, its been reported by every player who knows their loop from their stick! --- To have the audacity to tell us that this is a 60us latency is just insulting!
I am no precision thereminist, but I can play a basic simple tune on a 555 based "theremin" with RC "linearity" - I couldnt play any tune on the theremini - the latency is there, palpable.. I remember GordonC visiting me years ago when I first started at TW - He was demonstrating his EW to me and the kids in our back garden, and one of the first things he demonstrated was a "wolf whistle"..
You cannot even do a passable wolf whistle on the theremini!
60us my arse!
