I grew up watching vintage science fiction films with my mother, Forbidden Planet and The Day the Earth Stood Still being two household favorites.
I didn’t see one performed live until Man or Astroman did an in-store performance with one on August 4, 1995. I thought it was very novel. I saw many more live theremin performances throughout the 90/00s.
I never bothered trying my hand at one because, until recently, I never really found solid state theremins to be particularly musical.
