"The trick is to snip the stock capacitors in half, which makes desoldering them a lot easier (you don't want to put too much heat on a phenolic PWB, and spare caps with long leads are part of the kit). You may have trouble getting your hands on an ESPE01 module, if so let me know and I might be able to fabricate one on vector board. And I can certainly install it for you, PM me if interested."
Thank you so much, you're too kind... I'll keep you updated as I get the parts together. The ethermagic site still has the ESPE01 listed, so I'm assuming I can still order it from there? I might even order a couple of them as "just in case" stock.
And thank you for the clarification on linearity. That makes me more confident playing/learning without an add-on. Most stuff I've read has made it seem like the module is a necessity, but it sounds like it's more of a luxury, still well worth the investment though.
And just a note, I've decided on the Etherwave Standard, mostly after seeing the three ugly socket holes in the bottom of the cabinet that I'm sure I'd never utilize... I'm a sucker for aesthetics sometimes.
