I'm new to forums, so I hope this hasn't been asked before and I missed it.
I'm working on Vocalise and would like to look at a Theremin fingering for it.
Does anyone have a marked up piece of sheet music with fingering in the Carolina Eyck/Lydia Kavina playing style?
Thanks!
Fingering for Vocalise?
Fingering is highly individual and must adapt to your personal interpretation of the piece. On the Theremin, there aren‘t so many common rules as for the violin or the cello. Either you have a good teacher who guides you with hints or you’ll have to find your own way through the music, minimizing the need for (potentially dangerous) position shifts, avoiding to play high notes with outstretched fingers (will sound screechy), all with respect to the intended phrasing. Then, after many years of hard work (as Clara Rockmore said) you will figure it out.
