Hello thereminworld! Brand new user here. The new user page suggested I introduce myself, and this forum seemed the best place to do that.

I'm an electronics technician in Indiana (though not a very good one), and I made an account specifically to ask questions about a Jaycar kit theremin that I'm trying to fix up to give to my sister for Christmas. I've got no experience in musical electronics, save a couple circuitbending projects, so this might be a challenge for me.

All that said, is this forum still alive?

Cheers,
CD

Welcome cd collection!

The forum doesn't get many posts, but it does get a certain amount of views, not sure by what or who.

The Jaycar Theremin is ideal for experimentation. It uses the authentic principles of the Theremin Phenomenon. What it lacks is tuning of the pitch antenna for ideal pitch field linearity. Use an Analog AM radio inches from the pitch antenna. (Digital AM radios will not work.) Tune the radio and you will hear two blank spots in the background static if both oscillators are working. When the osc are tuned on top of each other on the AM dial you will get the heterodyne tone over the radio. After that audio amplification must be working to hear sound out of a speaker.

I wish you success and Happy Thanksgiving.
