Dan -

For the JWMiller inductors you should try calling
up JWMIller (which I believe is now owned by Bourns). You may be able to buy them direct or get free samples if you explain your difficulties and the usage.

Rick -

Rather than doing series inductors (which could
get expensive) you should be able to just change the size of the parallel capacitor to get the
frequency to ~300KHz.

Thank you.

I'm still unclear on the power supply, but I think I'll try to find someone I can talk to in person to tackle that.

You purchased a transformer with a 12.6VAC secondary. That should work fine. Wire it according to the Hotrodding schematic (the center tap is not required).

The Hotrodding schematic ties earth ground to signal ground at the DIN connector. You need to add the additional earth ground connection.

Thanks again, that makes things very clear.

I'll just add the earth ground as I described in the previous thread with a three prong plug.

One small detail...

Are the K24A pins as necessary as the T42-1 pins? I will definitely get teh T42-1 pins and the tool, but couldn't I use T42-1 pins everywhere?

You could use T42-1 pins everywhere but it is much easier to attach wires for panel mounted components to the K24A pins.

Take a look at the red and black wires in the
picture at --

I've contacted Bourns and the RF Choke series has been discontinued and they offer no substitutes. Do you know of any substitutes or ways that I could find substitutes. Could doing a Digi-key filter search on RF Choke inductors provide me with an adequate substitute, or are the inductors I need too specific?

Thanks,
Dan

I've done a little research:

could some of the inductors work from this series?

Another thought:
Could I modify the 6310-RC (50mH) inductor to fit my 2.5mH, 5mH, and 10mH needs? Could this be achieved by taking off a number of turns?

The inductors are coated with a varnish. You would have to remove the varnish between all of the turns of a very tiny wire. It is not really practical (and definitely not fun ;-)

Check out the JWMiller 70F Series of RF Chokes.
For the 10mH part (70F102AI-RC) Digikey has 1020
in stock. It looks similar to the JW Miller 6306
10mH choke. See if they have the other values
that you need.
