Miquette plays theme of "Delicatessen"

Thank you gtc.  Miquette and I are glad that you mentioned about the video which was quite an elaboration ;-)

What gtc said....The playing was pretty good...The video was entertaining, but I would have preferred to see her actually playing....The video clearly didn't match the playing...

Fred, thank you for your comment.  Actually, Miquette's tecnique is "different" because she is suffering rheumatoid arthritis for 30 years and cannot move her fingers like other thereminists.  This performance method is developed by herself for about 10 years.

The harsh sound and constant level of mezzo forte are intentional for this specific tune.  Miquette referred to the original recording of Delicatessen theme performed by accordion.

gtc, it's true that the technique is different and unsynchronized.  But it is not "Milli Vanilli" performance.  Actually I have to hear her playing many times and I am suffering from the repetition of the melody!  ;-)

Well, in that case she gets my unreserved respect.

My comment was more about the difficulty of playing without finger movement, rather than critical of the playing itself - until you enlightened the matter, I could not understand why anyone would make life so much more difficult for themselves by playing in that way!

Miquette certainly plays far better than many thereminists who do not suffer a physical handicap.

Jun, many thanks for letting us know. I agree with Fred. Miquette deserves great respect for her playing ability despite a debilitating medical condition.

I think Celia Sheen also played mezzo forte throughout the MIDSOMER MURDERS theme because she wanted to suggest a carnival calliope sound (and the calliope has no volume control). Have you heard the DELICATESSEN theme played by Nori Ubukata on his Eowave ribbon controller?
