Claravox Centennial- known issues, bugs and quirks

I had assumed the mute switch was hard wired and dissconnected the output, mainly because it doesn't switch off the tuner output, the headphone output  or the MIDI output

One thing that I always forget to do is plug a pedal into the mute socket and see if that also doesn't work while the instrument is stuck. I do know that when the mute is stuck on the mute light also stays on, and this time the mute light stayed off even when turning the switch on. Next time it happens I'll try plugging in a pedal.

I assume that a quick power cycle doesn't screw things up in regards to the warm-up period, but I feel like yesterday I was struggling more with pitch field linearity than usual. However that could be purely psychological.

I always just turn amp down instead of using mute. Works for me but mute button should work properly.  Love my Claravox but it is quirky.  I noticed on traditional mode two of my presets seem not as loud or adjustable.  Has anyone else noticed anything similar?  Didn’t do this at first.  Is there a factory reset for Claravox?

I love mine as well! But that doesn't preclude me from yelling the occasional expletive at it when it does something inexplicable (or from hoping that Moog will invest in further theremin development that includes addressing the bugs and quirks in this instrument).
Also, I think I remember seeing a factory reset option in the app. I can't find my iPad adapter cable right now to check.

Many make synthesizers but only a few make a good Theremin.  Moog owes it to Bob Moog to celebrate his honor by continued production of quality theremins.  Fix all Claravox bugs.  Reissue etherwave, etherwaveplus, and etherwave pro..
As for my Claravox, I thought I would play only traditional mode.  I play modern mode way more than I thought I would.  Lot of cool stuff.  Traditional mode should have register changing ability like modern mode.  If possible on etherwave pro it should be possible on Claravox.

I definately noticed al the traditional mode presets are down in volume compared to the modern mode - For me the volume knob behaves quite differently in traditional and modern mode but the pitch knob is the same for both modes

Does someone know if there are presets in tradional mode? Or do the controls work pretty much like they would on a tradional theremin so that timbres and controls are hard wired rather than software controllers ?

All analog are softer than modern but two presets seem like dials to adjust.sound don’t work properly.  But only on analog and it wasn’t always that way.  (I know editor has reset but does Claravox itself have a factory reset.)

MIDI questions

I have the cvox connected to my Minilogue XD - All good except for volume control. At times it has worked perfectly but other times using the volume antenna to change volume on the synth seems to create this kind of stacatto volume change adding a sharp attack to each volume change. Strangely not on every synth patch but so far I haven't been able to find out why. Its not a fault with tyhe claravox because volume control is fine using its own sounds.

Another odd thing is that rapid movements with my pitch hand seems to send a tempo change control to the Minilogue - I can see the control change come up on the synth screen.

Yup I could use CV but my synth only has pitch and gate and so you get no real volume control

I've got a problem where the Store LED is flashing and no sound produced, app prompts to update firmware but it fails all the time. Been trying for hours and was on the phone with customer service to no avail and used different macbooks... This happens just 2 days before a major performance to an audience of around 1000+ Have tried all kinds of orders...power off, powering on, opening app before/after connecting, resting it for 1 hour, re-installing claravox etc... Everything short of using and iPad because I have not got one.

I only play in the modern mode because in the traditional I get crappy volume response that can't be regulated like the modern mode along with the aforementioned bleed through of sound even with my hand completely through the loop. I just don't understand how Moog could make an analog theremin that is inferior to the EW Pro or for that matter the EWS.  I would rather play the EWS because it a solid and predictable instrument.  I hold my breath every time I play the Claravox because it seems like I am always fussing with it.  They should have just flipped a coin and decided to go with a digital or analog only.  IMO they should have put all their efforts into the digital side.  I guess I will have to contact Moog and possibly send it back but quite frankly why should I have to?  This thread is testament to the quality even though I think the Claravox has great potential.
Thank goodness for YNGVOX because of the positive balance he brings to this debacle.
