A Few Tunes

OK...I guess I'll start. You can find good theremin fodder from many genres. Of course the more lyrical and melodic the better. Christmas and religious music is always a good source. I start with popular music because it's something I'm familiar with and has catchy melodies. I'm not ready to tackle the classical stuff quite yet.

Here are some of my favorite practice pieces. Some of you younger folks may not care for some of this, and I'm definitely dating myself.

Make sure you add these to the newly built 'repertoire' page of theremin world! Then they'll be added to the other (growing) list of pieces.

I just added them myself (the ones with links that weren't just samples)

"When You Wish Upon a Star" is one of my favorite tunes to mangle on a theremin. It's not easy - there are lots of several-note jumps followed by half-steps, so it's a great song to practice your fine control.

Auld Lang Syne is another easy one to try.

Has anyone played "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess?

We are thinking of adding that one to our repertiore (if I spelled that right!)

I think it lends itself to some slided, which will make it a bit easier to play.
