Hello All!
I have great appreciation for everyone that has posted here. 'Thermin World' is an extraordinary experience for those that wish to master the theremin. I respect, admire, and most of all, THANK the 'regular' contributors to this site.
Thanks again,

Hello.Can I Start Again?
I am Dave and I went to OSU to become a socialist journalist and then found reality and the vocation I truely loved: Piano Mechanic!
I am a concert level piano tuner-technician. As well as piano, I also play the five-string bass, sing and wave my hands at the Theremin.
During my formative twenty-somethings I was in many "alternative-music" bands in this part of Ohio. I had written and performed much music during that period of my life, and then became bored with it all.
Then life and career, love and house payments, and 750 piano tunings a year left me deaf; personally 'musically' deaf. I am now at a place in my life that I wish to make my little songs again.
The Theremin seems to be the Pheonix.
I always knew about the Theremin, even from early childhood. I had a very musically and sonically rich childhood. I heard and saw the Theremin at a young age. It's sweet voice has ever been in my musical aesthetic.
As far as listening goes, I love Tangerine Dream, Bootsie Collins, Peter Pringle, The Residents, Frank Zappa, U.K., Wendy Carlos, Isoa Tomita, Yes, Bill Bruford, NickleBack, Stabbing Westward, The Funkadelics, Dorit Chrysler, and all the rest.
I am "shacked-up" and have the great benefit of my Sweetie's kids by a previous marriage. And, all their brood.
I am truely blessed.

Hi everybody!
I'm Christian and I'm from Sweden. My infatuation with the Theremin started only recently when I travelled to Australia to visit a friend, about half a year ago. He had bought a DVD with Bill Bailey called Part Troll and it was really hilarious. But what captured me most was his use of this wierd instrument I had no idea what it was. At about the same time I started reading a very good novel called Kiss Me, Judas by Will Christopher Baer and in this novel he described something that kind of resembled this instrument (in a metaphor describing a character, how great isn't that?) and mentioned it was called a Theremin. Well, I started searching the web right away and eventually found this great treasure chest of information. I do not own one right now but plan to buy one within the month. I'll be around anyways! =)
Cheers
/Christian

Welcome Christian from Sweden!
Glad you found Theremin World, it is probably the most active theremin site in English around.
Keep checking out the forums and let us know what and which theremin you end up getting.

Sideline: My grandmother was Swedish, from the Lapland area originally, eventually ending up in the U.S. It's fun to hear of theremin activity there.

Greetings,
My name is Randy. I am from Los Angeles, CA. I've been reading and browsing through thereminworld for a while now, but never quite was motivated enough to post until now.
I had heard of the name 'theremin' many years ago, and I knew it was an electronic instrument of sorts, but never thought of learning more about it until a coworker of mine showed me a picture of him playing one. After that something snapped in my head and I wanted to know everything about it. I spent several hours every night for a two weeks browsing the internet for as much information, audio clips, video clips and theremin resources as I could find. I wanted to play this magical ethermusic thing.

And so the obsession began. Thereminworld the first site that I bookmarked. It is the best place for anyone to go for their theremin fix. The proof is in this forum. It's nice to know your not alone when coping with the addiction.

In February, I ordered the Moog Etherwave Standard theremin. Ever since I first unwrapped it on day one it's been a real challenge to stop playing the thing. I really have to be falling asleep before I'll stop playing at night. no kidding!

Part of my craving to play the instrument came from my two year long hiatus from playing instruments. I have a woodwind background, having studied saxophone and bassoon through college. The theremin has definitely renewed my interest in performing once again.

Hopefully, I'll be back to post some more. this is a very cool place. Thanks to Jason for building it with his theremind!

Wow, thank you triple-o-six. Despite the wildly different kinds of music we all are making with the theremin, lots of us share your pattern of getting "hooked" on it. I can't remember ever not knowing about the instrument but became obsessed with getting one about three years ago to get music back into my life after a 5 year hiatus.
I had a long stretch of sleepless nights too when my EWPro first arrived. Daily playing has become both a need and a source of sanity for me.
I'll never regret getting one.
Yes!, Jason has formed the most active Theremin site around (in English at least). None of the others update content very often and the forums are no where near as active or helpful as this one.
WELCOME! Keep us posted on your aether-adventures, please.

I am Sam,

I have heard the Theremin many times growing up and thought it was the coolest thing but knew nothing about it.

Then I became a stage hand and fell into working at Caramoor Center for the Arts. ( Home to Lucie Bigelow Rosen.) Needless to say after many a flashlight tour through the House Museum and being allowed more or less free reign when the Theremin exhibit was installed I became hooked. (In that exhibit they also had one of Prof Theremin's Celluloid strip cellos.)

I just reveived my first Theremin a Moog etherwave kit, assembled and began playing it in less than one day. I play Bass guitar, used to play the Viola and know add the Theremin to my list of musical abilities.

Thanks for having me,

Samgar

Dude, I wanna here more about that exhibit. I'm a huge fan of history as well our favorite non-tactile instrument.

If you posted it and I missed it, sorry.
