When you say including the linear regulators, that means the capacitors and other components that go with the power supply circuit also, right?

I suppose I would have the box for the power supply near the wall outlet and then I'd run a cord with the correct DC voltage into the Theremin box. Is this what you mean? If so, that would complicate the power connectors, because I'd need one from the wall cord into the power box, one out of the power box, and then another into the Theremin.

Can I buy a "standard" power cord from Mouser or Digikey. Is this just a cord that has a three prong plug into the wall and then an output that would match the Qualtek adapters? In that case, I could just use 3 Qualtek adapters, 1 wall outlet to IEC320 standard cord, and another double ended IEC320 standard cord that goes from the power supply to the Theremin. Does this seem right?

Correct. It does add connectors but gives you the option of using the power supply for other [rojects. It also removes high voltage from your
main circuit board.

You could buy a "standard" power cord from Mouser or Digikey. You probably have quite a few around your house.

Do not use the Qualtek Adapters for any voltage other than what they are specified for!!! The IEC320 is a standard for 120VAC [b]ONLY[/b]. It can be very dangerous to violate this convention. I believe that the multiple output DC supplies come with a 5-pin DIN connector. Try to find something like that.

Use the same vectorboard that you use for the main circuit board.

You could have a cord coming out of the power supply or you could
mount a DIN connector to the power supply case.

Your PC ;-) The cord going into your PC would probably work.

The easiest way I have found is to browse the printed catalog. It is much easier to thumb through the pages then try to determine the
appropriate terms to use in the search software. The Digikey search is *much* better than the Mouser.

Will I need to get a second Vectorboard, or could I cut the one I'm getting? If I needed a new one, is there a smaller one with the same hole style and layout?

I'd like to mount a DIN connector on the power supply case as well as the Theremin, and then have a cord that would connect the two together. Is this setup possible/ can these parts be found at Digekey or Mouser?

Are these power supply 5 Pin DIN connectors the same ones that can be found at RadioShack that are used for TVs and Cable internet/ TV?

Is wood an ok material for the power supply box?

There are several different terminal styles for the Qualtek 703W-00/08 connector. Should I get the solder tab, or one of the other ones (".250 QD" or ".187 Q.D./Solder"?

The voltage regulator ICs came. They seem unbelievably small. Also, what is the protocol for handling electrostatic sensitive ICs?

Would this work, or are the instrumental cables not ok for power?

The Theremin draws very little current so the
instrument cables should be fine. If you are going to use the power supply for other devices you may want to look at other cable options. For cable ideas you could look at the type of cables that are used with the multi-output wall adapters.

For ICs you should use a ground strap. Look in
the Digikey and Mouser catalogs. For handling
instructions take a look at the IC manufacturers
site.

I've found that cable and several DIN connectors, but I think that different companies have different ways of configuring the 5 pins. I'll have to just get some that match.
