So, mySpace.
Welcome to the low rent district. It's not really for tourists, and if you move in you'll find it hard to move out. The landlords are greedy and unscrupulous; there are garish billboards everywhere, they employ second rate builders. The properties are prefabricated and dull, or tarted up with bright colours by the residents and daubed with graffiti by the locals. When school ends the streets are filled with kids and everything slows to a crawl. Inside the properties the amenities are primitive, badly arranged and occasionally unreliable. If you have the skills you can make the best of a bad job on the paint-work, but you'll never make a silk purse, and there's no scope to install fancy fittings indoors - if you're happy bathing in a cast-iron tub that's fine, but if you want a Jacuzzi be prepared to eat a lot of brussels sprouts and baked beans.
Having said that, provided you make the effort to search out like-minded friends there is a strong community spirit and plenty going on. There are nicer districts, such as tagworld.com, but they're a bit exclusive (cheeky blighters - apparently my browser of choice is incompatible with their website. I thought it was the other way around!) and frankly dahlings, if you don't mind slumming it, mySpace is just the must place to be.
