Which schematic for tag board or air wiring ?

Hi,

I've already played a bit with electronic (designed 5-6 PCBs wth mcu, soldered 0.5mm 32 pins mcu), but have almost zero experience with analog electronic.

I'd like to build a theremin where the electronic components are visible. I'd like it to be either air wired (either something similar to this or using a DIY tag board made from wood and brass tubes.

Is it ok to do a theremin like this, or is the placement and shielding of electronic components too critical to try this ?

Is there a schematic you would recommend me ? (My alternative is to buy a paia kit, so I guess my budget is about $150 for electronics. Bonus point for the schematic if I can use an external PSU, but I guess for low component count and good sound, most schematic will be lamp based and require 300-500V ?)

Thank you,

Jaune.

I'd start with the Paia kit. This would allow you to gain experience in analog electronics and especially the crazy effects when dealing with RF. In a second step, you could disable certain circuit parts of the Paia und do several things better with an embedded processor.

Hi Thierry,

I was afraid (but might be wrong) that the paia kit would solve have solved most of the problems for me and that I won't even seen them (hence not learn much).

Do you have link to some of the modification of a paia kit which use an IC or MCU ?

Thanks you,
Jaune.
