The GEDA project is a free suite of GPL'ed electronic circuit design and simulation tools being developed for Linux and Mac OSX variants (hippies). I haven't tried it myself, being a devoted Microsoft fanboy (you can flame me in the comments), but it seems like a nice option if you're looking for a way to formalize that back-of-the-envelope LC oscillator design you've been working on :)
