In the future, the Earth is over-populated, and the fate of humanity rests on the shoulders of the Thereminers – brave souls who boldly go when and where no human has gone before.
David Barron’s short science fiction story takes a new twist on the idea of the theremin. Instead of merely being a musical instrument, it appears as a sort of combination spaceship/time-capsule driven by theremin-like controls. Follow a group of 5 Junior Thereminers as they learn the ropes, discover new worlds, and eventually pick sides in a planet-wide revolution.
I’ll admit, I was skeptical when I first learned of this story, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It’s only $0.99 in the Amazon Kindle store
, so it was a fairly safe bet. I’d love to see the theremin appear in more writing, particularly in new ways like this. Kudos to Mr. Barron for taking the theremin in a new direction!
