In honor of Leon Theremin's upcoming 120th birthday this August, Masami Takeuchi and others have planned a series of fantastic events in Japan.
Leon Theremin was born in St. Petersburg, Russia on August 15th, 1896. This was before the Russian revolution, however, in which the calendar was changed by 13 days. As a result, we now celebreate his birthday on August 28th (and August 15th, because why not?).
The Theremin 120 series will feature panels and performances with guests from Russia and Japan. Among the planned events are:
- "Memory of Lev Theremin" Talk show by Natalia Theremin and Petr Theremin on 6th August at Create Hamamatsu (Hamamatsu) Natalia Theremin, Petr Theremin, Masami Takeuchi
- Lecture concert at Hamamatsu Museum of Musical instruments on 7th August at Hamamatsu Museum of Musical instruments (Hamamatsu) Natalia Theremin, Petr Theremin, Masami Takeuchi, Akiyo Hamaguchi, Yoshiko Kadota (piano)
- Dinner concert at Russian Restaurant “Kiev” on 9th August at Russian Restaurant “Kiev” (Kyoto) Natalia Theremin, Petr Theremin, Masami Takeuchi, Akiyo Hamaguchi, Yoshiko Kadota(piano)
- Japanese - Russo jointed theremin concert on 11th August at Scott Hall (Tokyo) Natalia Theremin, Petr Theremin, Masami Takeuchi, Akiyo Hamaguchi, Matryomin ensemble “Mable and Da”, Theremin ensemble, Yoshiko Kadota (piano)
