Atlanta-based Duet for Theremin and Lap Steel is celebrating their 10th anniversary with a new release, 10. The album includes 10 new ambient tracks performed on theremin, lap and pedal steel guitars, keyboards, saxophone, and clarinet.
In a recent review in the Chattanooga Pulse, Paik Ernie wrote:
It’s an absorbing album, impeccably sequenced without a misstep for its hour-long duration; with its two non-fixed-pitch instruments, treated with effects, it’s the perfect fall weather soundtrack, conveying warmth but with a frosty, crystalline purity and ambiguous moods, hovering in a grey space that’s haunted, melancholic and hopeful.
10 is available at Bandcamp.com as both digital download and a limited run of 100 CDs (also including unlimited streaming in the Bandcamp app). You can also buy the digital download at Amazon.com.
Duet for Theremin and Lap Steel is Scott Burland (Theremin) and Frank Schultz (Lap Steel) and are based in Atlanta Georgia. All performances are improvised.
